Primo Nord Zip combines 4mm neoprene insulation with a full-height rear Riri zip, making it considerably easier to put on and remove while retaining serious cold-weather performance.

WHICH ARXUS WELLINGTON BOOTS SHOULD I CHOOSE?
Choose the Pioneer Nord if you want a premium all-round country Wellington with neoprene insulation and an adjustable calf.
Choose the Primo Nord Zip if you want greater insulation and the convenience of a full-height rear zip for easier entry and removal.
Choose the Primo Nord LW if you want Arxus' more technical lightweight construction, with increased insulation and a lighter rip-stop shaft for long days covering ground.
PIONEER NORD VS PRIMO NORD ZIP
The Pioneer Nord uses a 3mm neoprene lining and traditional adjustable side gusset. It is an excellent choice for general walking, shooting and country use.
The Primo Nord Zip steps up to 4mm neoprene and adds a robust full-height Riri zip running down the rear of the shaft. This makes the boot easier to get on and off and allows it to be opened for ventilation after walking.
The Primo Nord Zip is also classified for colder conditions, making it the stronger choice for customers spending long periods outside during winter.
PRIMO NORD ZIP VS PRIMO NORD LW
Both are premium insulated Arxus boots rated for cold-weather use, but their construction is quite different.
The Primo Nord Zip is the more traditional rubber Wellington. It uses 4mm neoprene and a full-height rear Riri zip, making it an excellent choice if easy entry and removal are priorities.
The Primo Nord LW uses 5mm neoprene plus a 2mm Air Cell lining and replaces much of the traditional rubber shaft with waterproof rip-stop material. This reduces weight and helps regulate temperature during active use.
Choose the Primo Nord Zip for a premium traditional zipped Wellington. Choose the Primo Nord LW if lightweight construction and all-day walking performance are the priorities.
WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT THE PRIMO NORD ZIP?
The Primo Nord Zip features a heavy-duty rear zip from Swiss manufacturer Riri. Its position at the rear allows the zip to flex with the natural movement of the leg rather than being repeatedly bent sideways.
Opening the full-length zip makes the boot considerably easier to put on and take off. It can also be opened when stationary after walking to increase ventilation and help cool the foot.
A strong metal clamping strap around the shaft helps secure the boot around the leg.
WHAT DOES LW MEAN ON THE PRIMO NORD LW?
LW stands for Lightweight. The Primo Nord LW uses a strong waterproof rip-stop fabric and neoprene shaft to reduce weight compared with a conventional full-rubber Wellington shaft.
This makes it particularly suitable for customers covering longer distances while retaining the insulation and protection expected from a premium Arxus boot.
HOW WARM ARE ARXUS WELLINGTON BOOTS?
The Pioneer Nord, Primo Nord Zip and Primo Nord LW are all designed with cold-weather outdoor use in mind, but insulation varies between models.
The Pioneer Nord uses 3mm neoprene and is classified down to -15°C. The Primo Nord Zip uses 4mm neoprene and is classified down to -20°C. The Primo Nord LW combines 5mm neoprene with a 2mm Air Cell lining and is also classified down to -20°C.
Actual comfort will depend on activity level, socks, weather conditions and how long you remain outdoors.
WHICH ARXUS WELLIES ARE BEST FOR WALKING?
The Pioneer Nord is an excellent option for everyday country walking. If you regularly cover longer distances, the Primo Nord LW is particularly attractive because its lightweight shaft reduces unnecessary bulk while retaining substantial insulation.
WHICH ARXUS WELLIES ARE BEST FOR SHOOTING & STALKING?
All three models are suitable for field use. The Pioneer Nord is a strong all-round choice, while the Primo Nord Zip offers greater insulation and convenient zipped entry.
For stalking and longer days covering difficult ground, the lightweight Primo Nord LW is the more technical option.
WHAT SOLES DO ARXUS WELLINGTON BOOTS USE?
Arxus uses its distinctive X-pattern sole, designed to provide dependable grip in different directions of movement across demanding outdoor terrain.
The multi-layer sole construction is designed to combine traction with stability, support and cushioning for prolonged outdoor use.
ARE ARXUS WELLINGTON BOOTS WATERPROOF?
Yes. Arxus Wellington boots are designed for waterproof protection in wet outdoor conditions. Arxus uses natural rubber extensively throughout its boot construction, while the Primo Nord LW uses waterproof neoprene and rip-stop material in its lightweight shaft.
HOW SHOULD ARXUS WELLINGTON BOOTS FIT?
Arxus recommends allowing approximately 8mm of clearance when measuring your foot for the correct internal boot length. Your boots should feel secure without restricting movement and should leave enough room for the socks you normally wear outdoors.
The different adjustment systems also help tailor the fit around the calf, particularly on the Pioneer Nord and zipped Primo models.
HOW DO I CARE FOR ARXUS WELLINGTON BOOTS?
Rinse mud and dirt away after use and allow the boots to dry naturally away from direct heat. Store them upright in a cool, dry place when not in use.
On zipped models, keep the zip clean and free from dried mud or grit so it continues to operate smoothly. Arxus recommends cleaning a restricted zip with lukewarm water.
