Choose the Frostline 5.0 if you want more insulation and a versatile boot for winter walking, shooting, farming and regular country use.

Choose the Treeline 8.5 Vibram when warmth and performance on demanding terrain are the priorities. It is the most heavily insulated Wellington in our current Grubs range and adds a Vibram outsole.

Choose the Ptarmigan 5.0 Vibram if you prefer the support and fit of a lace-up ankle boot for walking rather than a traditional tall Wellington.

One of the key differences between the Speyline 4.0 and Frostline 5.0 is the level of insulation. The Speyline uses a lighter 4mm neoprene construction, while the Frostline moves up to 5mm.

This makes the Speyline 4.0 a good choice for general outdoor use and active wear when maximum insulation is unnecessary. The Frostline 5.0 provides additional warmth and is better suited to colder weather and winter use.

For general winter walking and country use, choose the Frostline. For colder conditions, shooting, stalking and demanding terrain, move up to the Treeline.

The numbers help distinguish the different constructions and insulation levels within the Grubs range. As you move from the Speyline 4.0 through the Frostline 5.0 to the Treeline 8.5, the boots become progressively more focused on warmth and cold-weather use.

That does not automatically mean the highest number is best for everyone. A lighter boot can be preferable for active walking or milder conditions, while heavier insulation is more useful in winter or when standing outside for long periods.

The Treeline 8.5 Vibram is the most heavily insulated Wellington boot in our current Grubs range and is the model to consider when maximum warmth is the priority.

The Frostline 5.0 provides a useful middle ground for typical British winter conditions, while the lighter Speyline 4.0 is better suited to customers who do not need as much insulation.

The Frostline 5.0 is a strong all-round shooting boot, providing useful insulation without moving to the heavier construction of the Treeline.

For colder days, rougher ground or situations where you may spend long periods standing outside, the Treeline 8.5 Vibram is the more heavy-duty option.

For regular farm and yard use, the Frostline 5.0 provides a good balance of insulation, waterproof protection and everyday practicality.

If you work outside for extended periods in particularly cold conditions, the more heavily insulated Treeline 8.5 is worth considering.

Vibram outsoles are designed to provide dependable traction and durability for demanding outdoor use. Within our current Grubs range, both the Treeline 8.5 and Ptarmigan 5.0 feature Vibram soles.

They are particularly worth considering if you regularly use your boots on rough, muddy or uneven terrain where grip and outsole durability are priorities.

Grubs Wellington boots are designed to provide waterproof protection for wet and muddy outdoor conditions. Their rubber lower sections and neoprene construction make them particularly useful for British country use throughout wetter parts of the year.

Grubs boots should feel secure around the foot without being uncomfortably tight. The neoprene upper is designed to provide flexibility around the leg, while enough room should remain for the socks you normally wear.

If you are buying primarily for winter use, consider the thickness of the socks you normally wear when choosing your size.

Rinse mud and dirt from the rubber sections after use and allow the boots to dry naturally. Avoid placing them directly against radiators or other strong heat sources.

Store your boots upright in a cool, dry place when not in use and allow the inside of the boot to dry fully after particularly wet or prolonged use.
