NocPix LUMI P13 Thermal Imaging Monocular is the most affordable and compact entry point into the NocPix LUMI range. Built around a 256×192 thermal sensor and fast 13mm F0.9 objective lens, it is designed primarily for close-range scanning, basic heat detection and users who want a lightweight thermal monocular without moving straight into higher-resolution models.

With 2× base magnification, a wide 24 × 18m field of view at 100 metres and a manufacturer-stated detection range of up to 670 metres, the P13 is particularly well suited to scanning gardens, yards, woodland edges and other closer-range environments. Its small size and simple specification also make it a strong first thermal monocular for users learning how thermal imaging works.

IS THE NOCPIX LUMI P13 RIGHT FOR ME?

The LUMI P13 makes the most sense if your priorities are price, portability and basic thermal detection. Its 2× starting magnification and wide 24 × 18m field of view make it easy to scan closer areas quickly.

The main compromise is its 256×192 sensor. It provides less thermal detail than the 384×288 L19 and L35 and considerably less than the 640×512 H35. Digital magnification therefore degrades useful detail sooner than on the higher-resolution models.

Choose the P13 for close-range scanning, locating nearby heat sources or as an affordable first thermal monocular. If you want noticeably more target detail while retaining a wide field of view, the L19 is the logical next step.

COMPARE NOCPIX LUMI MODELS
Model Sensor Lens Base Mag. FOV @ 100m Detection LRF
P13 256×192 13mm F0.9 24 × 18m Up to 670m No
L19 384×288 19mm F0.9 24 × 18m Up to 980m No
L35 384×288 35mm F0.9 13 × 10m Up to 1,800m No
H35 640×512 35mm F0.9 2.5× 22 × 16m Up to 1,800m No
L35R 384×288 35mm F0.9 13 × 10m Up to 1,800m Yes – 800m
H35R 640×512 35mm F0.9 2.5× 22 × 16m Up to 1,800m Yes – 800m

P13: Entry point to the LUMI range, prioritising low price, compact size and closer-range scanning.

L19: Retains the wide 24 × 18m field of view but upgrades to a 384×288 sensor, giving greater thermal detail and longer 980m detection.

L35: 384×288 model with a longer 35mm lens, 4× starting magnification and up to 1,800m detection for more distance-focused observation.

H35: Higher-resolution 640×512 model offering substantially more thermal detail while retaining a useful wide field of view.

L35R: 384×288 / 35mm model with integrated 800m laser rangefinder.

H35R: Highest-specification LUMI, combining the 640×512 sensor with integrated laser rangefinding.

LUMI P13 vs L19 – IS THE L19 WORTH THE UPGRADE?

The P13 and L19 both start at 2× magnification and both provide approximately 24 × 18m field of view at 100m, so they offer a similarly wide scanning experience.

The major difference is sensor resolution. The P13 uses a 256×192 sensor, while the L19 uses 384×288. The L19 therefore provides significantly more thermal image information and generally retains more useful detail when subjects are smaller or further away.

The L19 also increases the objective lens from 13mm to 19mm and extends manufacturer-stated detection range from approximately 670m to 980m.

Choose P13 if keeping the purchase price down is the main priority. Choose L19 if you can justify the extra cost for greater image detail and range while retaining essentially the same wide field of view.

DETECTION RANGE – WHAT DOES 670m MEAN?

NocPix specifies the P13 with a maximum thermal detection range of approximately 670 metres against its standard 1.7 × 0.5m target.

Detection means the device may be capable of showing that a sufficiently large heat source is present. It does not mean that the target can necessarily be identified in detail at 670m.

Useful identification distance will be shorter and will vary with target size, weather, thermal contrast and the amount of digital magnification being used.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the detection range of the NocPix LUMI P13?
NocPix specifies a detection range of up to approximately 670 metres against its standard test target.

What is the NocPix LUMI P13 best suited to?
The P13 is designed primarily for closer-range scanning and basic heat detection. It is particularly attractive to first-time thermal users and buyers prioritising compact size and affordability.

What is the difference between the LUMI P13 and L19?
Both provide 2× base magnification and a similarly wide field of view. The L19 upgrades the sensor from 256×192 to 384×288, uses a larger 19mm lens and extends stated detection range from 670m to approximately 980m.

Does the LUMI P13 have a laser rangefinder?
No. The LRF-equipped models within the current LUMI family are the L35R and H35R.

Does the P13 record video?
Yes. The P13 supports photo and video recording and provides 32GB of onboard storage.

How long does the LUMI P13 battery last?
NocPix specifies a maximum operating time of approximately 6 hours. Actual runtime varies according to use of functions such as Wi-Fi and recording.

Is the LUMI P13 waterproof?
The P13 carries an IP67 protection rating for resistance to water and dust.

Is 256×192 thermal resolution enough?
It is suitable for basic detection and closer-range scanning, but it will not retain the same fine target detail as the 384×288 or 640×512 LUMI models. If target identification at greater distance matters, moving up the range is worthwhile.
