      NocPix OMNI Multispectral Binoculars

The NocPix OMNI series takes a different approach to conventional thermal binoculars by combining thermal imaging and an 8K digital day and night vision system within a single binocular. This gives you the ability to use thermal for rapid detection before switching to the digital channel for detailed visual identification.

The OMNI range available from Bamfords Online consists of the OMNI L19R and OMNI H35R. Both models share the same advanced 8K digital imaging system, 50mm F1.8 digital objective, integrated ranging, electronic image stabilisation and interchangeable infrared illumination. The key difference is the thermal channel: the L19R uses a 384×288 sensor with a 19mm F0.9 lens, while the H35R steps up to a 640×512 sensor and 35mm F0.9 lens.

Which NocPix OMNI Should I Choose?

Choose the OMNI L19R if you want the versatility of the OMNI multispectral platform at the more accessible price point. You still get the 8K digital channel, ≤15mK thermal sensitivity, integrated ranging and the core OMNI features, with a 384×288 thermal sensor and 19mm F0.9 thermal objective.

Choose the OMNI H35R if thermal image quality and identification are more important. Its 640×512 thermal sensor provides substantially more thermal resolution, while the larger 35mm F0.9 objective and 2× base thermal magnification make it the stronger choice when greater thermal detail and performance at distance are required.

      OMNI L19R vs H35R – WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

The biggest difference between the OMNI L19R and H35R is the thermal imaging system. Their digital imaging capabilities are essentially shared, so moving up to the H35R is primarily an upgrade in thermal performance.

The L19R uses a 384×288, 12μm thermal sensor paired with a fast 19mm F0.9 objective and 1.5× base thermal magnification.

The H35R steps up to a considerably higher-resolution 640×512, 12μm thermal sensor and a larger 35mm F0.9 objective, with thermal magnification starting at 2×.

Our view: the L19R is the value choice if you primarily want the flexibility of thermal and digital observation in one unit. If thermal performance is a major part of how you intend to use the binocular, the H35R is the stronger option.

      WHAT IS A MULTISPECTRAL BINOCULAR?

A multispectral binocular combines more than one type of imaging technology within a single device. In the case of the NocPix OMNI, you have both a thermal imaging channel and a high-resolution digital imaging channel.

Thermal imaging detects differences in heat rather than visible light, making it exceptionally effective for quickly locating animals in darkness, vegetation and other difficult viewing conditions.

The digital channel provides a more familiar visual image and can reveal details that thermal alone cannot reproduce. This makes it particularly useful for identification after a heat source has been located.

Rather than carrying separate thermal and digital night vision devices, OMNI gives you access to both technologies from one binocular.

8K DIGITAL IMAGING – WHAT DOES IT DO?

The OMNI platform incorporates an 8K digital sensor designed to retain a high level of detail, including when magnification is increased.

NocPix states that the sensor captures more than four times the pixel count of mainstream 4K sensors, providing additional image information for detailed target recognition.

The digital system is paired with a 50mm F1.8 objective lens. Its large aperture helps maximise available light, improving digital image performance as light levels begin to fall.

Three scene-specific digital image algorithms are available for daylight, twilight and low-light conditions, allowing the digital image processing to be adapted to the environment.

      THERMAL IMAGING – L19R vs H35R

Both OMNI models use 12μm thermal sensors with an excellent ≤15mK NETD rating, but the resolution and objective lens differ considerably.

The L19R's 384×288 sensor contains 110,592 thermal pixels. The H35R's 640×512 sensor contains 327,680 thermal pixels – almost three times as many.

This additional sensor resolution gives the H35R more thermal information with which to form the image, making it better suited to users who place a high priority on thermal detail and identification.

      The H35R also uses a larger 35mm F0.9 thermal objective compared with the L19R's 19mm F0.9 objective.

      ≤15mK THERMAL SENSITIVITY

Both OMNI models feature thermal sensors rated at ≤15mK NETD. NETD measures the thermal imager's ability to distinguish very small differences in temperature, with a lower number representing greater sensitivity.

High thermal sensitivity helps reveal subtle temperature differences and retain detail in conditions where the temperature difference between an animal and its surroundings is relatively small.

This can be particularly useful in damp weather, mist and other low-contrast environments where less sensitive thermal imaging systems can produce a flatter image.

      THERMAL & DIGITAL VIEWING

OMNI is designed to make switching between its different imaging technologies straightforward. A dedicated control allows rapid switching between the digital and thermal channels without navigating through complicated menus.

This means you can scan using thermal imaging to rapidly locate a heat source and then move to the high-resolution digital channel when a conventional visual image is more useful.

It is this ability to combine detection and identification within one handheld unit that separates OMNI from a conventional thermal-only binocular.

      850NM & 940NM IR ILLUMINATION

OMNI is supplied with interchangeable 850nm and 940nm infrared illumination options for use with the digital channel in darkness.

850nm provides stronger illumination and is suited to situations where maximum digital night vision performance and greater illumination distance are the priority.

940nm provides more discreet infrared illumination with reduced visible glow, making it useful when a lower-profile setup is preferred.

The interchangeable system means the same binocular can be adapted to different nighttime observation requirements.

      ELECTRONIC IMAGE STABILISATION

Electronic Image Stabilisation helps reduce the effect of natural hand movement while viewing through the binocular, becoming particularly valuable as magnification increases.

NocPix has designed the OMNI stabilisation system to operate from 1× magnification, helping provide a steadier image throughout the observation process from initial scanning through to closer inspection.

      0.5× DIGITAL ZOOM CONTROL

Rather than restricting magnification changes to large jumps, OMNI allows adjustment in increments as small as 0.5×.

This gives you more precise control over the image and makes it easier to select an appropriate magnification without immediately making a large jump in zoom.

A dedicated digital zoom ring provides intuitive control, helping the OMNI behave more like a conventional optical binocular.

      DISPLAY & VIEWING COMFORT

OMNI uses a high-resolution AMOLED viewing system designed to provide a detailed image and comfortable viewing during extended observation.

The binocular format allows both eyes to be used rather than repeatedly viewing a display with one eye, while a large exit pupil helps make it easier to acquire the complete image when bringing the binocular up to your eyes.

This makes OMNI particularly well suited to longer scanning sessions where viewing comfort can become just as important as raw imaging performance.

      18650 BATTERY SYSTEM

OMNI uses a replaceable 18650 battery system, providing a practical power solution for extended use in the field.

The polarity-free battery compartment means the battery can be inserted in either orientation, making replacement considerably easier in darkness or while wearing gloves.

NocPix specifies compatibility with standard protected 18650 batteries and recommends genuine NocPix 18650 batteries for optimum performance.

      BLUETOOTH & NOCPIX APP CONNECTIVITY

OMNI features wireless connectivity with the NocPix app, allowing captured images and videos to be shared from the device.

Bluetooth connectivity is designed to simplify the connection process, while NocPix's wider N-Link ecosystem can also allow compatible NocPix equipment to share imaging and ranging information.

      HANDHELD OR TRIPOD MOUNTED

A built-in tripod mounting point allows OMNI to be used either as a conventional handheld binocular or mounted to a tripod for stable, prolonged observation.

This adds useful flexibility for users who spend extended periods observing the same area, while retaining the portability required for mobile scanning.

OMNI vs QUEST – WHICH NOCPIX BINOCULAR RANGE?

Choose OMNI if you want thermal and digital imaging in one binocular. Its key advantage is versatility: thermal can be used for detection while the 8K digital channel provides conventional day, twilight and night vision.

Choose QUEST if your priority is dedicated thermal observation. The QUEST range is built around thermal performance and gives you a choice of 640×512 and flagship 1280×1024 thermal sensors.

Neither range is simply a replacement for the other. OMNI is the more versatile multispectral system, while QUEST is the specialist thermal binocular range.

WHICH OMNI OFFERS THE BEST VALUE?

The OMNI L19R offers the lowest-cost route into the OMNI platform. Importantly, choosing the L19R does not mean losing the headline 8K digital imaging system. You still get the multispectral concept, digital day/night capability, ≤15mK thermal sensitivity and the core OMNI features.

The OMNI H35R is the model to choose when thermal performance matters more. The move from a 384×288 to 640×512 thermal sensor is a substantial upgrade, providing almost three times the number of thermal pixels.

If you expect to use the digital channel heavily and thermal mainly for detection, the L19R represents a compelling option. If you want both sides of the device to deliver a higher level of performance, we would choose the H35R.
