The QUEST H50R is the longer-distance 640×512 option in the QUEST range. It is particularly well suited to users who regularly observe across open fields and larger areas where greater image scale at distance is more useful than maximum field of view.
Its 50mm F1.1 lens and 4× base magnification provide a more focused view than the H35R. The trade-off is a narrower 15 × 12m field of view at 100m, compared with 22 × 18m on the H35R.
The H50R is therefore not simply a "better H35R". Both use the same 640×512 detector but are optimised differently. H35R prioritises wider scanning, while H50R places greater emphasis on longer-distance observation.

The H50R and flagship S50R both use a 50mm F1.1 objective lens, making the difference between them particularly easy to understand: the major upgrade is the thermal sensor.
The H50R uses a 640×512 detector containing 327,680 thermal pixels. The S50R increases this to 1280×1024, or 1,310,720 thermal pixels — exactly four times the pixel count.
That additional resolution also allows the S50R to start at just 2× magnification while providing an exceptionally wide 30 × 24m field of view at 100m. The H50R starts at 4× and provides 15 × 12m.

DUAL-BATTERY SYSTEM & RUNTIME
The NocPix QUEST H50R uses a dual-battery system, combining a built-in rechargeable battery with a removable 18650 rechargeable battery.
The external 18650 can be replaced in the field without interrupting use, making it easy to extend operating time during longer sessions.
