The QUEST H35R is arguably the best all-round model in the QUEST range if you want high-resolution 640×512 thermal imaging with a wide field of view.

Its combination of a 35mm F0.9 lens and 3× base magnification provides a wide 22 × 18m field of view at 100m, making it particularly effective for scanning larger areas and mixed terrain.

Compared with the L35R, the H35R retains approximately the same 1,800m manufacturer-stated detection range but increases sensor resolution from 384×288 to 640×512 and provides a considerably wider field of view.

Compared with the H50R, it uses the same 640×512 sensor but prioritises field of view over maximum detection distance. The H50R increases manufacturer-stated detection range to approximately 2,600m but provides a narrower view.

Choose the H35R if you want: 640×512 resolution, wide-area scanning, integrated LRF and an excellent balance between image detail, field of view and detection distance.

L35R: The most accessible QUEST. It uses a 384×288 sensor with a 35mm lens and approximately 1,800m detection range.

H35R: Moves to a 640×512 sensor while retaining a 35mm lens and approximately 1,800m detection range. Its 22 × 18m field of view makes it particularly strong for scanning.

H50R: Uses the same 640×512 sensor as the H35R but moves to a 50mm lens, increasing manufacturer-stated detection range to approximately 2,600m and giving it a stronger long-distance bias.

QUEST H35R vs L35R – WHAT DO I GET FOR THE UPGRADE?

The H35R and L35R both use a 35mm F0.9 objective lens and have approximately the same 1,800m manufacturer-stated detection range. The major difference is sensor resolution and resulting field of view.

The L35R uses a 384×288 detector containing 110,592 thermal pixels. The H35R increases this to 640×512, containing 327,680 thermal pixels — almost three times as many thermal pixels.

The H35R also starts at a lower 3× magnification and provides a much wider 22 × 18m field of view at 100m, compared with 5× and 13 × 10m on the L35R.

Choose L35R if price and higher base magnification are priorities. Choose H35R if you want substantially more sensor resolution, greater image detail and a much wider view for scanning.

WHY CHOOSE THERMAL BINOCULARS INSTEAD OF A MONOCULAR?

The main advantage of thermal binoculars is comfortable two-eye viewing. Rather than continuously viewing a display with one eye, the QUEST provides a familiar binocular-style viewing experience.

DUAL-BATTERY SYSTEM & RUNTIME

The NocPix QUEST H35R uses a dual-battery system, combining a built-in rechargeable battery with a removable 18650 rechargeable battery.
