The NocPix NITE D70R Day and Night Digital Scope with LRF is a high-resolution digital riflescope designed to provide a detailed, full-colour image throughout the day before continuing into low light and complete darkness with infrared illumination. At its heart is a large 1/1.6-inch 3536×3536 12-megapixel digital sensor, paired with a long-range 70mm F2.0 objective lens and smooth 60Hz imaging.

Unlike a thermal riflescope, the NITE D70R does not detect heat. Instead, it produces a conventional visible image, allowing colour, markings, shape and surrounding detail to be viewed during daylight. As light levels fall, its starlight-grade sensor can continue working in extremely low ambient light, while compatible 850nm or 940nm infrared illumination enables viewing in complete darkness.

The D70R is particularly suited to users who want one dedicated digital optic for both day and night use. Its 5–40× continuous magnification, integrated laser rangefinder with up to 1,200m ranging, onboard ballistic calculation and fine 0.3 MOA/click zeroing system combine long-range digital imaging with the familiar handling of a traditional riflescope.

12MP 4K Ultra Digital Sensor

The NITE D70R uses a 3536×3536 digital imaging sensor containing approximately 12 megapixels, with a fine 2μm pixel size.

NocPix describes this as its Real 12MP 4K Ultra imaging system. The square sensor format is designed to retain a large amount of image information and provide fine visible detail rather than simply producing an enlarged lower-resolution image.

The sensor itself is a large 1/1.6-inch format. NocPix states that this increases light intake by approximately 10%, supporting stronger image performance as ambient light levels fall.

For the user, the main benefit is detail. During daylight the D70R can reproduce colour, target markings, shape and surrounding terrain in a way that a thermal image cannot.

Digital Day & Night Vision – How Does It Work?

The D70R is a digital day and night scope rather than a thermal scope.

During daylight it captures visible light and provides a detailed full-colour image. As ambient light falls, its highly sensitive digital sensor continues operating into very low-light conditions.

In complete darkness, an infrared illuminator can provide invisible or near-invisible infrared light for the sensor to see.

Digital night vision: sees reflected visible and infrared light.

Thermal imaging: detects differences in heat.

This makes NITE particularly useful when positive visual detail matters. Thermal is exceptionally effective for initially finding heat sources, while high-resolution digital night vision can provide a more conventional-looking image for examining shape, markings and surroundings.

70mm F2.0 Telephoto Lens

The D70R is built around a long 70mm F2.0 objective lens.

This gives the scope a relatively high 5× starting magnification and places greater emphasis on distant image detail than on an extremely wide scanning view.

The optical configuration is particularly well suited to larger fields and situations where the user expects to observe at medium and longer distances.

NocPix states a daytime detection capability of up to approximately 1,500 metres under suitable conditions.

As with any headline detection figure, this should not be interpreted as a guaranteed positive identification distance. Actual usable distance depends on target size, lighting, atmospheric conditions and the level of detail required.

5–40× Continuous Magnification

The NITE D70R provides a broad 5–40× magnification range.

Rather than restricting the user to only a few fixed digital zoom stages, the scope supports continuous zoom, allowing magnification to be adjusted progressively to suit the viewing distance.

NocPix also states that the D70R can provide up to 15× lossless magnification within its imaging system, helping preserve image quality and detail as magnification is increased.

The 5× starting magnification reflects the D70R's long-range bias. It provides useful target scale at distance but gives a narrower initial field of view than a lower-magnification digital scope.

60Hz High-Frame-Rate Imaging

The D70R is capable of delivering its 12MP digital image at a smooth 60Hz frame rate.

A higher frame rate helps reduce visible judder and motion blur when panning across the landscape or following a moving animal.

This is particularly important in a high-resolution digital scope because image resolution alone does not guarantee a good viewing experience. The combination of high detail and 60Hz operation helps keep the image responsive and natural during movement.

Field of View

The D70R provides a 5.8° × 5.8° angular field of view, equivalent to approximately 10 × 10 metres at 100 metres.

This relatively concentrated viewing area is a consequence of the long 70mm objective lens and 5× base magnification.

It makes the D70R particularly suitable where distant detail is more important than having an extremely broad scanning view.

Angular FOV 5.8° × 5.8°
FOV @100m 10 × 10m
Base Magnification 5×
Low-Light & Infrared Night Performance

The D70R uses a starlight-grade sensor with minimum illumination stated down to 0.001 lux, allowing the scope to continue producing an image in extremely low levels of ambient light.

When there is no usable ambient light, infrared illumination can be used to illuminate the scene for the digital sensor.

NocPix offers compatible IR illumination in both 850nm and 940nm configurations, with the manufacturer stating night illumination and observation out to approximately 200 metres. The exact practical distance depends on the illuminator, weather, target and surrounding conditions.

850nm IR: generally prioritises illumination performance and range.

940nm IR: generally prioritises a less visible infrared source.

Integrated 1,200m Laser Rangefinder

The D70R incorporates its laser rangefinder directly into the scope body rather than relying on a separate external module.

NocPix states a maximum ranging distance of up to approximately 1,200 metres with accuracy of less than one metre under suitable conditions.

Integrated rangefinding is particularly valuable at night, when estimating distance from normal visual references becomes much more difficult.

NocPix also highlights the optical-axis consistency of the integrated design, helping minimise alignment and parallax-related ranging errors.

Ballistic Calculation

The integrated laser rangefinder works alongside the D70R's onboard ballistic calculation system.

The system supports ballistic profiles for different calibres and can use the measured target distance as part of the calculated aiming correction.

This is especially useful where distances vary substantially and removes the need to manually estimate both range and corresponding holdover.

Ballistic calculation should always be treated as an aiming aid. Correct zeroing, accurate ammunition data, positive target identification and a safe backstop remain essential.

0.3 MOA/Click Precision Zeroing

NocPix equips the D70R with a fine 0.3 MOA-per-click zeroing system.

The smaller adjustment value allows the point of aim to be moved in finer increments than a coarser digital zeroing system, helping achieve a more precise zero.

The scope is built around a high-strength aluminium-alloy unibody construction designed to maintain structural rigidity and zero stability.

NocPix states that the D70R has undergone 20,000 cycles of 6,000J impact testing as part of its durability validation.

1920×1200 HD Display & Viewing Comfort

The D70R uses a 0.72-inch 1920×1200 HD internal display.

This high-resolution viewing system is important because it allows more of the detail generated by the 12MP sensor to be reproduced clearly through the eyepiece.

A 10mm exit pupil provides a more forgiving viewing position, while the traditional circular viewing window is intended to give the scope a familiar feel for users accustomed to conventional optical riflescopes.

Display 0.72-inch HD
Display Resolution 1920×1200
Eye Relief 48mm
Exit Pupil 10mm
Dual Battery System – Built-In + Replaceable 18650

The NITE D70R uses a dual-power arrangement combining an internal rechargeable battery with a replaceable rechargeable 18650 battery.

The advantage of this arrangement is that the scope is not entirely dependent on a sealed internal battery. A charged 18650 can be replaced in the field to extend operating time, while the internal power source provides additional capacity and continuity.

Actual runtime varies with ambient temperature, display brightness, infrared illumination, laser rangefinder use, recording and wireless functions.

For extended night sessions, keeping a charged spare 18650 available is recommended.

Traditional Riflescope Design

Despite the electronics inside, the D70R is deliberately styled and operated more like a conventional day riflescope than many digital night-vision units.

The eyepiece, circular viewing window, central control area and overall proportions create a familiar shooting position for users moving from conventional glass to digital day/night optics.

The laser rangefinder is also integrated neatly into the body rather than using a large externally mounted module.

NITE D70R vs Thermal – Which Should I Choose?

Digital night vision and thermal imaging solve different problems.

NITE D70R Produces a conventional digital image using visible or infrared light
Thermal Scope Builds an image from differences in heat
NITE Daytime Image Full colour
Thermal Daytime Image Thermal palette rather than natural colour
NITE in Total Darkness Normally uses IR illumination
Thermal in Total Darkness No IR illuminator required

Thermal is generally stronger for quickly finding animals because warm targets can stand out strongly from their surroundings.

The D70R's advantage is the conventional-looking image. During daylight and suitable night conditions it can provide visible shape, markings and environmental detail that a heat-based image cannot reproduce in the same way.

Choose NITE: if you want one digital optic for full-colour daytime use and detailed night viewing.

Choose thermal: if detecting heat sources quickly in darkness is the main priority.

D70R vs NITE Pro D50R

The D70R and NITE Pro D50R take different approaches to premium digital day and night imaging.

The D70R uses a long 70mm F2.0 lens and starts at 5× magnification, placing strong emphasis on distant image scale and long-range observation.

The newer NITE Pro D50R uses a much higher-resolution 48MP digital sensor and shorter 50mm F1.25 objective, giving it a wider field of view and a stronger emphasis on premium overall image quality and low-light performance.

Choose D70R: if the 70mm lens, 5× base magnification and long-range bias suit your ground.

Choose NITE Pro D50R: if you want the newer flagship platform, much higher sensor resolution and wider viewing area.
