RICO2 H50R vs H75R – WHICH SHOULD I CHOOSE?
The H50R and H75R use the same 640×512, 12μm thermal sensor with ≤15mK thermal sensitivity and a 60Hz refresh rate. The main difference is the objective lens and resulting magnification and field of view.
The H50R uses a 50mm F1.0 lens with 3–24× magnification and a 15.4 × 11.5m field of view at 100 metres. The H75R moves to a larger 75mm F1.0 lens with 4–32× magnification, reducing the field of view to 10.2 × 8.2m at 100 metres.
Choose the H50R if you want a wider field of view and a more versatile setup for mixed-distance use. Choose the H75R if you regularly work across large open areas and want greater base magnification and a stronger long-range emphasis.
RICO2 H75R vs S75R – IS THE 1280 SENSOR WORTH IT?
The H75R and S75R both use a large 75mm F1.0 objective lens, but the sensor is fundamentally different. The H75R uses a 640×512 detector, while the flagship S75R moves to 1280×1024.

WHY DOES RICO2 USE LARGE 50mm & 75mm LENSES?
Objective lens size has a major influence on how a thermal scope behaves. Larger focal-length lenses generally provide greater optical magnification and place more emphasis on longer-distance viewing, while reducing field of view when sensor size remains the same.
This is why the RICO2 H75R feels more long-range focused than the H50R even though both use the same 640×512 sensor. The 75mm lens provides greater base magnification, while the 50mm model gives a wider view of the surrounding area.
The S75R changes that relationship because its much larger 1280×1024 sensor allows it to combine a 75mm objective lens with a significantly wider field of view than the 640×512 H75R.

THERMAL SENSOR RESOLUTION – 384 vs 640 vs 1280
The RICO2 range is available across three thermal resolution classes.
384×288 – L42R: provides the most accessible entry into RICO2 and suits customers who want the platform's long-range features without paying for a higher-resolution sensor.
640×512 – H50R and H75R: captures significantly more thermal image information and is the main performance level within the range. The difference between H50R and H75R is primarily the lens, base magnification and field of view.
1280×1024 – S75R: provides the highest sensor resolution in the RICO2 family. The much larger pixel count gives the system substantially more thermal image information to work with and allows the S75R to retain a wide field of view despite its 75mm lens.
