IS THE ACE H50 RIGHT FOR ME?

The ACE H50 is particularly well suited if you want premium 640×512 thermal image quality without paying for an integrated laser rangefinder.

Its 50mm F0.9 objective lens, 3× base magnification and up to 2,600m stated detection range give it a strong balance between field of view and longer-distance performance. The 640×512 sensor also retains considerably more thermal detail than lower-resolution 384-class models as viewing distance or digital magnification increases.

The H50 makes most sense if you already use a separate rangefinder, normally operate at familiar distances, or simply do not consider integrated ranging essential. If you do want rangefinding built directly into the optic, the ACE H50R offers the same core thermal sensor, lens and magnification specification with the addition of an integrated LRF.

WHAT DOES ACE RM MEAN?

RM stands for Rail Mount. NocPix ACE RM models use a dedicated integrated rail-mount format rather than the standard ACE mounting arrangement.

The RM system is designed to provide a rigid mounting interface, make horizontal alignment easier and offer greater fore-and-aft adjustment when setting the correct eye relief and shooting position.

The current ACE RM range includes the ACE RM H50R and ACE RM S60R. These retain the same core thermal sensor and objective lens combinations as the corresponding standard H50R and S60R models, with the principal distinction being the mounting configuration.

Choose standard ACE if you prefer the conventional scope-style mounting format. Choose ACE RM if you specifically want the integrated rail-mount system and the additional mounting flexibility it provides.

The standard ACE H50 shown on this page does not have an RM version because the RM family is based around the rangefinding H50R and flagship S60R configurations.

ACE H50 vs H50R – WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

The ACE H50 and H50R are extremely closely related. Both use the same 640×512, 12μm thermal sensor, ≤15mK sensitivity, 50mm F0.9 objective lens, 60Hz refresh rate, 3–24× magnification and up to 2,600m detection range.

The major difference is that the H50R adds an integrated laser rangefinder, while the H50 does not.

This means you are not giving up core thermal image quality by choosing the H50. If you do not need built-in ranging, it provides essentially the same core thermal viewing specification as the H50R.

Choose H50 if you already have a separate rangefinder, normally work at known distances or simply want to prioritise image performance over integrated ranging.

Choose H50R if you regularly operate across variable distances and want range information available directly through the optic.

ACE H50 vs S60R – IS THE 1280 SENSOR WORTH IT?

The move from ACE H50 to S60R is a genuine flagship performance jump rather than simply an increase in lens size.

The H50 uses a 640×512 sensor and 50mm F0.9 lens, while the S60R uses a much higher-resolution 1280×1024 sensor with a 60mm F1.0 lens.

The S60R also starts at a lower 2× base magnification and provides a much wider 25.6 × 20.5m field of view at 100m, compared with 15.4 × 12.3m on the H50. Its stated detection range increases from 2,600m to 3,100m.

The H50 remains an excellent premium 640 option and will make more financial sense for many users. The S60R is the model to choose if maximum sensor resolution, wider viewing information and flagship image quality justify the additional investment.

IMAGE QUALITY, NETD & REALITY+ PROCESSING

The ACE H50 combines a 640×512, 12μm thermal detector with ≤15mK thermal sensitivity.

NETD measures how small a temperature difference the thermal system can distinguish. A lower figure generally helps the device retain finer environmental and target detail when thermal contrast is poor.

NocPix's Reality+ image processing works alongside the thermal detector to refine image detail and contrast, while the fast 60Hz refresh rate keeps movement fluid during observation.

The 50mm F0.9 objective lens also uses a very fast aperture, helping maximise thermal energy reaching the sensor.

VISION+ DISPLAY & OCULAR ZOOM

ACE incorporates NocPix's Vision+ viewing system, combining a high-resolution AMOLED display with a large viewing arrangement designed to provide a clear and immersive image.

The H50 also provides 1–3× ocular zoom. This is separate from the scope's main digital magnification and allows the viewed display image itself to be enlarged through the eyepiece.

The H50 provides a field of view of 15.4 × 12.3 metres at 100 metres. This gives it a useful balance between the wider viewing area needed for observation and the magnification required for longer-distance use.

BALLISTIC CALCULATION & RANGEFINDING OPTIONS

The ACE platform supports ballistic calculation functionality, but the standard H50 does not incorporate the integrated laser rangefinder found on H50R and S60R models.

This makes the H50 particularly suitable if you prefer to obtain range information separately or do not require live rangefinding through the scope.

If integrated rangefinding is important, the ACE H50R is the closest alternative because it retains the same 640×512 sensor, 50mm F0.9 lens, magnification range and core thermal image performance while adding built-in LRF capability.

MOUNT & TUBE INFORMATION

The NocPix ACE H50 uses a 30mm scope tube, so it can be fitted using compatible 30mm scope rings or mounts.

If you are using the Bamfords free Hawke match mount offer, choose a 30mm two-piece mount that matches your rifle's rail type.

The standard ACE L35, H50, H50R and S60R models all use the conventional 30mm tube mounting format.
