640×512 Sensor & ≤15mK Thermal Sensitivity
The ACE H50R uses a 640×512 thermal imaging sensor with a 12μm pixel pitch, providing considerably more thermal information than a lower-resolution 384×288 detector.
That additional resolution becomes particularly useful when observing smaller or more distant heat sources and when digital magnification is applied.
The sensor is rated at ≤15mK NETD. A low NETD figure indicates the detector's ability to distinguish very small temperature differences, helping retain definition when the target and its surroundings have relatively little thermal contrast.
This can improve usability during damp, mild, misty or overcast conditions when thermal images can otherwise appear flatter.
The detector also operates at 60Hz, keeping movement smooth when following an animal or scanning quickly across the landscape.
50mm F0.9 Lens & 2,600m Detection
The H50R combines its 640×512 sensor with a fast 50mm F0.9 germanium objective lens.
The large F0.9 aperture allows a high level of infrared energy to reach the detector, complementing the highly sensitive ≤15mK sensor.
The 50mm focal length provides 3× base magnification and an 8.8° × 7.0° field of view, equivalent to approximately 15.4m × 12.3m at 100 metres.
NocPix specifies a maximum thermal detection range of up to 2,600 metres using a standard 1.7m × 0.5m target at P(n)=99%.
Thermal detection: up to 2,600m
Laser ranging: up to 1,200m
These figures describe two different functions. Thermal detection refers to the distance at which the scope can establish that a heat source is present. The 1,200m figure refers to the maximum specified measuring distance of the laser rangefinder.
Integrated 1,200m Laser Rangefinder
A major difference between the ACE H50R and standard H50 is the H50R's integrated Class 1 laser rangefinder.
NocPix specifies a maximum measuring distance of 1,200 metres with stated accuracy of ±1 metre.
Integrating the rangefinder into the thermal riflescope allows the user to locate a heat source, observe it and obtain distance information without changing to a separate handheld rangefinder.
Accurate ranging can be especially valuable through thermal imaging because darkness removes many of the normal visual reference points used to estimate distance.
| LRF | Integrated |
| Laser Safety Class | Class 1 |
| Maximum Range | 1,200m |
| Stated Accuracy | ±1m |
Built-In Ballistic Calculation
The ACE H50R supports ballistic calculation in addition to its integrated laser ranging.
Once the relevant ballistic information has been correctly configured, the system can use measured range data as part of its ballistic calculation, providing additional aiming information to the shooter.
This is one of the key reasons to choose the H50R over the standard H50: the H50 provides essentially the same core thermal imaging platform, whereas the H50R adds both distance measurement and ballistic functionality.
Ballistic calculation is an aiming aid and does not replace correct zeroing, verified ammunition data, safe shooting practices or positive target identification.
3–24× Magnification & Ocular Zoom
The ACE H50R starts at 3× magnification and provides an overall magnification range of 3–24×.
Three-times base magnification gives the H50R useful image scale for observing across open ground without making the field of view excessively narrow.
The ACE platform also incorporates NocPix's 1–3× ocular zoom system. This allows adjustment at the eyepiece and is one of the distinguishing features of the original ACE design.
Digital magnification remains useful when inspecting a detected heat source more closely, although—as with all thermal devices—the amount of genuinely captured detail is determined primarily by the sensor and objective lens rather than digital enlargement alone.
2560×2560 AMOLED Vision+ Display
The H50R uses a high-resolution 2560×2560 AMOLED display as part of NocPix's Vision+ viewing system.
The high display resolution is designed to create a detailed and immersive view through the eyepiece, complementing the 640×512 thermal detector rather than bottlenecking the captured image through a low-resolution viewing screen.
| Display Type | AMOLED |
| Display Resolution | 2560×2560 |
| Eye Relief | 50mm |
| Exit Pupil | 8mm |
| Dioptre Adjustment | -5D to +5D |
Reality+ Processing & Shutterless Imaging
NocPix's Reality+ image-processing system works with the H50R's sensor to improve the presentation of thermal detail and contrast.
The original ACE platform also incorporates a shutterless thermal imaging design intended to reduce interruption to the viewed image during use.
This is especially useful when continuously observing or following a moving heat source, where interruptions to the thermal image can be distracting.
Combined with the 60Hz refresh rate, the system is designed to provide a smooth and consistent view during active observation.
Dual Battery System & 7-Hour Runtime
The ACE H50R uses a dual battery system consisting of a built-in rechargeable battery and a separate removable battery.
The integrated battery has a capacity of 4000mAh, while the replaceable power source is a rechargeable 18650 Li-ion battery.
NocPix specifies a maximum operating time of up to 7 hours at 22°C.
| Internal Battery | Built-in 4000mAh rechargeable battery |
| Replaceable Battery | Rechargeable 18650 Li-ion |
| Maximum Stated Runtime | Up to 7 hours at 22°C |
| External Power | 5V USB Type-C |
The dual arrangement provides useful flexibility for longer sessions because a discharged removable 18650 can be exchanged while the scope retains its separate integrated power source.
Actual operating time varies with ambient temperature and use of functions such as Wi-Fi and recording.
64GB Storage, Recording & RAV
The ACE H50R includes 64GB of internal storage for capturing thermal photographs and video.
Audio recording is also supported, while Recoil Activated Video (RAV) allows the scope to automatically capture footage associated with a detected shot rather than requiring every recording to be manually started beforehand.
A built-in Gallery allows captured material to be reviewed through the device.
Wi-Fi and app connectivity provide additional options for connecting the H50R to a compatible mobile device.
30mm Tube Mounting
This version of the NocPix ACE H50R uses the original ACE 30mm tube mounting system.
It can therefore be installed using suitable 30mm scope rings or a compatible 30mm mounting solution, allowing ring height and scope position to be selected to suit the rifle and shooter.
This product: standard ACE H50R with 30mm tube.
Not the same product as: ACE H50R RM, which uses NocPix's dedicated rail-mount format.
This distinction is important because the H50R and H50R RM share much of their underlying thermal specification but use different mounting systems.
6,000J Recoil Resistance & IP67 Protection
The ACE H50R is purpose-built as a thermal riflescope and NocPix specifies maximum recoil resistance of 6,000 joules for the original ACE platform.
The housing carries an IP67 ingress-protection rating and is designed to withstand outdoor field conditions.
NocPix specifies an operating-temperature range of -20°C to +50°C.
| Ingress Protection | IP67 |
| Operating Temperature | -20°C to +50°C |
| Maximum Recoil Energy | 6,000J |
ACE H50R vs H50
The H50R and H50 share the same core thermal imaging specification. Both use a 640×512, 12μm detector with ≤15mK sensitivity, a 60Hz refresh rate and a 50mm F0.9 objective lens.
Both also provide 3–24× magnification, an 8.8° × 7.0° field of view and up to 2,600m stated thermal detection.
| ACE H50 | 640×512 | 50mm F0.9 | 3–24× | No integrated LRF |
| ACE H50R | 640×512 | 50mm F0.9 | 3–24× | 1,200m LRF + ballistic calculation |
Choose the H50: if you want the core 640×512 50mm ACE thermal performance and do not require built-in ranging.
Choose the H50R: if you want thermal imaging, precise distance measurement and ballistic calculation integrated into the same scope.
ACE H50R vs H50R RM
The standard H50R and H50R RM are closely related thermally, but the mounting system is fundamentally different.
The standard H50R shown on this page uses a conventional 30mm scope tube. The H50R RM uses NocPix's rail-mount architecture.
NocPix developed the RM system to provide a rigid mounting interface and simplify horizontal alignment while avoiding the possibility of scope-tube deformation from incorrectly tightened rings.
Choose the standard H50R: if you prefer traditional 30mm scope-ring mounting and the flexibility to select your own ring setup.
Choose the H50R RM: if you specifically want the dedicated ACE rail-mount system.
ACE H50R vs S60R
The original ACE S60R sits above the H50R and represents a major sensor upgrade.
| ACE H50R | 640×512 | ≤15mK | 50mm F0.9 | 3–24× | 8.8° × 7.0° FOV |
| ACE S60R | 1280×1024 | ≤15mK | 60mm F1.0 | 2–24× | 14.7° × 11.7° FOV |
The S60R's 1280×1024 detector contains four times the number of thermal pixels found in a 640×512 sensor. It therefore represents a substantial increase in captured thermal resolution.
The larger sensor also allows the S60R to combine a longer 60mm objective with a considerably wider field of view.
The H50R remains the more accessible option for users who want premium 640-resolution thermal performance, integrated ranging and ballistic calculation without moving to the significantly more expensive 1280-resolution S60R.
Original ACE H50R vs ACE 2 H50R
The original ACE H50R and newer ACE 2 H50R are separate generations and should not be confused simply because they share the same H50R model designation.
Both use a 640×512, 12μm detector and a 50mm F0.9 objective, but the newer ACE 2 H50R improves detector sensitivity from ≤15mK to ≤12mK and introduces a number of next-generation platform developments.
| Original ACE H50R | 640×512 | ≤15mK | 50mm F0.9 | Original ACE platform |
| ACE 2 H50R | 640×512 | ≤12mK | 50mm F0.9 | New-generation ACE 2 platform |
The original H50R therefore remains relevant as a high-specification 640×512 thermal scope, particularly where its price represents a worthwhile saving against the newer ACE 2.
