The ACE S60R is aimed at customers who want maximum thermal image quality from the ACE range and are prepared to pay for the substantial jump from a 640×512 detector to a 1280×1024 sensor.

Its greatest advantage is not simply longer detection range. The much larger sensor allows the S60R to combine a 60mm objective lens with only 2× base magnification and a very wide 25.6 × 20.5m field of view at 100m. That gives you both a large amount of scene information for scanning and a high-resolution image that remains more useful as magnification increases.

If you want excellent premium performance without the flagship price, the ACE H50R is likely to be the better-value choice. If image quality, wide field of view and maximum retained detail are the priorities, the S60R is the stronger option.

The ACE family progresses from the 384×288 L35 through the 640×512 H50 models to the flagship 1280×1024 S60R. Selected H50R and S60R models are also available in RM rail-mount versions.

The higher-resolution sensor gives the S60R substantially more thermal image information to work with. This can provide finer scene detail and helps preserve useful information as magnification is increased.

Perhaps just as importantly, the larger sensor allows the S60R to start at only 2× magnification despite its 60mm lens. Its 25.6 × 20.5m field of view at 100m is considerably wider than the H50R's 15.4 × 12.3m.

Choose H50R if you want excellent premium thermal performance with integrated LRF at a substantially lower price.

Choose S60R if maximum image quality, more retained image detail and a much wider field of view justify the additional investment.

RM stands for Rail Mount. The ACE RM S60R uses NocPix's dedicated integrated rail-mount format rather than the standard ACE mounting arrangement.

The standard S60R and RM S60R share the same core 1280×1024 thermal sensor, 60mm F1.0 lens and flagship optical configuration. The important difference is therefore the mounting system rather than thermal image performance.

The RM format is intended to provide a rigid mounting interface, simplify horizontal alignment and allow greater fore-and-aft adjustment when setting the optic's position and eye relief.

Choose the standard S60R if you prefer the conventional ACE scope-style mounting configuration.

Choose the RM S60R if you specifically want the integrated rail-mount system and the additional positioning flexibility it provides.

The S60R's 1280×1024 thermal detector contains four times as many pixels as a 640×512 detector.

That additional resolution provides substantially more thermal image information. In practical viewing terms, it can deliver finer detail, a more natural-looking image and better retention of useful information when digital magnification is applied.

The high sensor resolution also allows NocPix to combine the 60mm lens with a relatively low 2× base magnification and broad field of view. One of the most interesting characteristics of the S60R is its combination of a 60mm objective lens with only 2× base magnification.

The high-resolution 1280×1024 sensor produces a field of view of approximately 25.6 × 20.5 metres at 100 metres, substantially wider than the 640×512 H50 and H50R models despite the S60R's larger objective lens.

This gives the S60R a particularly versatile viewing characteristic. At 2× it can show a large area of ground for locating subjects, while the 2–24× magnification range allows the image to be enlarged when more detail is needed.

The ACE S60R operates at 50Hz, while the L35, H50 and H50R models operate at 60Hz.

A higher refresh rate can make movement appear slightly smoother, but the difference between 50Hz and 60Hz is relatively small compared with the much larger difference in sensor resolution between the S60R and 640×512 ACE models.

The ACE S60R includes an integrated laser rangefinder, allowing distance information to be obtained directly through the optic rather than relying on a separate handheld rangefinder.
