Its greatest advantage is not simply longer detection range. The much larger sensor allows the S60R to combine a 60mm objective lens with only 2× base magnification and a very wide 25.6 × 20.5m field of view at 100m. That gives you both a large amount of scene information for scanning and a high-resolution image that remains more useful as magnification increases.

If you want excellent premium performance without the flagship price, the ACE H50R is likely to be the better-value choice. If image quality, wide field of view and maximum retained detail are the priorities, the S60R is the stronger option.

ACE S60R vs H50R – IS THE 1280 SENSOR WORTH IT?

The jump from H50R to S60R is the largest performance step within the ACE range.

The H50R uses a 640×512 sensor with a 50mm F0.9 lens, while the S60R uses a 1280×1024 sensor with a 60mm F1.0 lens.

The higher-resolution sensor gives the S60R substantially more thermal image information to work with. This can provide finer scene detail and helps preserve useful information as magnification is increased.

S60R vs RM S60R – WHAT DOES RM MEAN?

RM stands for Rail Mount. The ACE RM S60R uses NocPix's dedicated integrated rail-mount format rather than the standard ACE mounting arrangement.

The standard S60R and RM S60R share the same core 1280×1024 thermal sensor, 60mm F1.0 lens and flagship optical configuration. The important difference is therefore the mounting system rather than thermal image performance.

The RM format is intended to provide a rigid mounting interface, simplify horizontal alignment and allow greater fore-and-aft adjustment when setting the optic's position and eye relief.

Choose the standard S60R if you prefer the conventional ACE scope-style mounting configuration.

1280×1024 SENSOR – WHAT DOES IT ACTUALLY GIVE ME?

The S60R's 1280×1024 thermal detector contains four times as many pixels as a 640×512 detector.

That additional resolution provides substantially more thermal image information. In practical viewing terms, it can deliver finer detail, a more natural-looking image and better retention of useful information when digital magnification is applied.

The high sensor resolution also allows NocPix to combine the 60mm lens with a relatively low 2× base magnification and broad field of view.
