The NocPix BOLT P25R Thermal Imaging Scope with LRF is the most accessible model in the BOLT thermal riflescope range, combining a compact 256×192, 12μm thermal sensor with a 25mm F1.0 objective lens, integrated laser rangefinder and ballistic calculation. It is designed for customers who want the convenience and features of a dedicated NocPix thermal scope without immediately stepping up to the higher-resolution L35R or H50R.

IS THE BOLT P25R RIGHT FOR ME?
The P25R is the best place to start in the BOLT range if price is a major consideration and you primarily need a dedicated thermal scope for shorter and medium-distance use.
Although it uses the lowest-resolution detector in the BOLT family, you still get many of the important features found further up the range, including an integrated laser rangefinder, ballistic calculation, dual-battery system and conventional 30mm mounting.
If you want a noticeable increase in thermal detail and detection range, consider the BOLT L35R. For the strongest image quality and longest detection capability in the BOLT range, step up to the BOLT H50R.

BOLT P25R vs L35R – IS THE L35R WORTH THE STEP UP?
The L35R's main advantages are its higher-resolution thermal sensor, larger objective lens and longer detection range.
The P25R uses a 256×192 sensor and 25mm F1.0 lens, while the L35R increases this to 384×288 and 35mm F1.0. Manufacturer-stated detection range increases from approximately 1,300m on the P25R to 1,800m on the L35R.
Both use 3.5–14× magnification and include integrated LRF and ballistic calculation. The P25R therefore makes sense when keeping the purchase price down is the priority, while the L35R is the worthwhile upgrade for customers wanting more thermal image detail and additional detection capability.
BOLT P25R vs H50R – WHAT DOES THE H50R ADD?
The H50R represents a substantial step up from the P25R. Sensor resolution increases from 256×192 to 640×512, while the objective lens increases from 25mm to 50mm.
The H50R also improves thermal sensitivity from ≤20mK to ≤18mK, increases refresh rate from 50Hz to 60Hz and provides a wider 3–24× magnification range.
The difference in manufacturer-stated detection range is also considerable: approximately 1,300m for the P25R compared with 2,600m for the H50R.
The P25R is primarily about value. The H50R is the better choice when image quality, longer-distance detection and retaining more useful detail under digital magnification justify the additional cost.
256×192 SENSOR – WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
The P25R uses a 256×192 thermal detector with a 12μm pixel pitch. This is the lowest-resolution sensor in the current BOLT range and is one of the main reasons the P25R can be offered at a lower price than the L35R and H50R.
For customers mainly using the optic at shorter and medium distances, it provides an accessible route into a dedicated thermal scope. However, the higher-resolution L35R and especially the 640×512 H50R will provide greater thermal image detail and retain more useful information as digital magnification is increased.
WHAT DOES ≤20mK NETD MEAN?
NETD measures how effectively a thermal detector can distinguish small differences in temperature. In general, a lower NETD figure indicates greater thermal sensitivity.
The BOLT P25R is rated at ≤20mK. This helps the detector distinguish temperature differences within a scene, including when environmental conditions reduce thermal contrast.
25mm F1.0 LENS & FIELD OF VIEW
The P25R combines a compact 25mm F1.0 objective lens with 3.5× base magnification. Its field of view is approximately 12.3 × 9.2 metres at 100 metres.
The smaller 25mm objective contributes to the P25R's shorter-distance positioning within the BOLT family. Moving to the L35R increases the objective to 35mm, while the H50R uses a substantially larger 50mm lens.
LASER RANGEFINDER & BALLISTIC CALCULATION
Despite being the entry model in the BOLT family, the P25R retains an integrated laser rangefinder with a manufacturer-stated maximum ranging distance of up to 1,200 metres under suitable conditions.
The scope also incorporates ballistic calculation functionality, meaning customers do not have to move to the L35R or H50R simply to gain the BOLT rangefinding and ballistic features.
DETECTION RANGE vs IDENTIFICATION RANGE
NocPix gives the BOLT P25R a manufacturer-stated detection range of approximately 1,300 metres under its specified test conditions.
Detection range is not the same as identification range. Detecting that a heat source is present at a particular distance does not necessarily mean there is enough image detail to determine exactly what that heat source is.
Actual useful detail will vary with weather, temperature contrast, object size, terrain and the amount of digital magnification being used.
DUAL-BATTERY SYSTEM & RUNTIME
The BOLT platform combines an internal rechargeable battery with a replaceable 18650 battery. This provides the convenience of an integrated power source while allowing a spare 18650 battery to be carried and replaced when required.
NocPix states operating time of up to approximately 12 hours for the P25R under its specified test conditions. Actual runtime can vary with temperature, connectivity, recording and other settings.

MOUNT & TUBE INFORMATION
The NocPix BOLT P25R uses a conventional 30mm scope tube. This means it mounts using suitable 30mm scope rings or a 30mm scope mount.
When selecting a mount, the ring diameter must therefore be 30mm. You will also need to choose a mount suitable for the rail fitted to your rifle and ensure the selected height provides adequate clearance for the scope and objective.
The BOLT P25R, L35R and H50R share the traditional 30mm tube-style mounting format, so the same basic ring-diameter requirement applies across the current BOLT range.
