IS THE ACE L35 RIGHT FOR ME?

The ACE L35 makes most sense if you want the ACE platform at a lower price point and do not need a 640×512 or 1280×1024 thermal sensor.

Its 384×288 sensor, 35mm F0.9 lens and 4× base magnification make it particularly suited to shorter and medium-distance use. You still get the premium ACE design and key imaging technologies, but with a specification that is more accessible than the H50, H50R and S60R.

If image detail at greater distances or while using more magnification is important, the ACE H50 is the logical next step because it moves to a 640×512 sensor and 50mm F0.9 lens.

If you also want an integrated laser rangefinder, consider the ACE H50R. The L35 itself does not contain an integrated LRF.

The H50 is the most logical upgrade from the L35 because both models omit an integrated LRF, making the difference primarily about thermal and optical performance.

The biggest improvement is the move from 384×288 to 640×512 resolution. The H50 captures substantially more thermal image information, which becomes particularly valuable when viewing finer detail or applying digital magnification.

The H50 also adds a larger 50mm lens, lower 3× base magnification, greater maximum magnification and a longer manufacturer-stated detection range.

Choose L35 if its more accessible price and 384-class performance suit your requirements. Choose H50 if the improvement in thermal detail is worth the additional investment.

DO I NEED THE H50R INSTEAD?

There are two significant steps between the L35 and H50R: thermal image resolution and integrated rangefinding.

The H50R moves from the L35's 384×288 sensor and 35mm lens to a 640×512 sensor and 50mm F0.9 lens. It also adds an integrated laser rangefinder.

If you mainly operate at familiar distances and do not require integrated ranging, the L35 keeps the ACE package considerably more accessible.

If you want greater image detail and regularly need to determine distance directly through the optic, the H50R is the more complete option.

WHAT DOES ACE RM MEAN?

RM stands for Rail Mount. NocPix ACE RM models use a dedicated integrated rail-mount format rather than the standard ACE mounting arrangement.

The current RM options sit further up the ACE family and include the ACE RM H50R and ACE RM S60R. They retain the core thermal sensor and objective lens combinations of their corresponding standard H50R and S60R models, with the mounting configuration being the principal distinction.

The ACE L35 is a standard ACE model rather than an RM model. If you specifically want the dedicated rail-mount configuration, you will therefore need to move to one of the applicable RM models.

IMAGE QUALITY, NETD & REALITY+ PROCESSING

The L35 uses a 384×288, 12μm thermal sensor with ≤18mK thermal sensitivity.

NETD measures how small a temperature difference the thermal system can distinguish. Lower NETD figures generally help preserve detail when there is relatively little temperature contrast between a subject and its surroundings.

MOUNT & TUBE INFORMATION

The NocPix ACE L35 uses a 30mm scope tube, so it requires compatible 30mm scope rings or mounts.

If you are using the Bamfords free Hawke match mount offer, make sure you choose a 30mm two-piece mount that matches your rifle's rail type.

The standard ACE L35, H50, H50R and S60R models all use the conventional 30mm tube mounting format.
