The NocPix VISTA H50 Thermal Imaging Monocular is the longer-range non-LRF model in the VISTA H-series, combining a high-resolution 640×512 thermal sensor with exceptional ≤15mK thermal sensitivity and a fast 50mm F0.9 germanium objective lens. With 4× base magnification and a manufacturer-stated detection range of up to 2,600 metres, the H50 is particularly well suited to scanning and observation across larger fields and open terrain.
Compared with the wider-field VISTA H35, the H50's 50mm objective provides greater native magnification and places more emphasis on distant detail. Its 8.8° × 7° field of view is narrower than the H35, but distant heat sources appear larger before digital magnification is applied, giving the H50 a distinctly longer-range character.
The VISTA H50 also incorporates NocPix's high-resolution 2560×2560 AMOLED viewing system, a smooth 60Hz refresh rate, 64GB internal storage and a removable IBP-7 battery system. For users who want the performance and reach of the 50mm VISTA platform but do not require an integrated laser rangefinder, the H50 is the natural choice.

640×512 Thermal Sensor & ≤15mK NETD
The VISTA H50 is built around a high-resolution 640×512 thermal detector with a 12μm pixel pitch. The high sensor resolution provides a detailed thermal image and helps retain useful information when observing smaller or more distant heat sources.
The detector is rated at ≤15mK NETD. NETD measures how effectively a thermal sensor can distinguish very small differences in temperature, with a lower figure representing greater thermal sensitivity.
This high sensitivity is particularly useful when natural thermal contrast is reduced. In damp, foggy, overcast or otherwise challenging conditions, subtle temperature differences between an animal and its surroundings can remain visible rather than blending into the background.
50mm F0.9 Lens & Long-Range Performance
The H50 combines its 640×512 detector with a fast 50mm F0.9 germanium objective lens. The large F0.9 aperture allows a high level of infrared energy to reach the detector, helping the sensor make the most of its excellent thermal sensitivity.
The 50mm focal length gives the H50 4× base magnification together with an 8.8° × 7° field of view, equivalent to approximately 15m × 12m at 100 metres.
This gives the H50 a more long-range-focused image than the 35mm VISTA models. Distant heat sources appear larger at base magnification, making the H50 particularly well suited to observing across larger fields, open farmland and other environments where additional reach is useful.
4–40× Magnification & 2,600m Detection
The NocPix VISTA H50 starts at 4× base magnification and provides digital magnification up to 40×.
NocPix specifies a maximum thermal detection range of up to 2,600 metres using a standard 1.7m × 0.5m target. This gives the 50mm H50 considerably greater stated detection reach than the 35mm H35 models, which are rated to 1,800 metres.
Detection range should not be confused with recognition or positive identification distance. At very long range, thermal imaging may establish that a heat source is present, while determining exactly what that target is requires a shorter distance and sufficient environmental and thermal detail.
The H50's combination of 4× base magnification and 2,600m stated detection makes it particularly attractive where observation regularly takes place across larger open areas.
2560×2560 AMOLED Display
The VISTA H50 uses NocPix's high-resolution 2560×2560 AMOLED display, providing a detailed viewing image that complements the 640×512 thermal detector.
The VISTA platform uses a distinctive circular viewing system and large ocular arrangement intended to provide a more natural viewing experience than a conventional small rectangular thermal display.
AMOLED technology provides strong contrast and deep blacks, while the 60Hz thermal refresh rate keeps movement smooth when scanning across terrain or following moving animals.
Battery System & What's Included
The NocPix VISTA H50 uses the removable NocPix IBP-7 rechargeable Li-ion battery system. Each IBP-7 battery has a capacity of 4400mAh.
Two NocPix IBP-7 rechargeable battery packs are included with the VISTA H50. You therefore receive the battery required to operate the monocular plus a second interchangeable battery for extended use rather than having to purchase a spare battery separately.
| Battery Type | NocPix IBP-7 rechargeable Li-ion battery pack |
| Battery Capacity | 4400mAh per battery |
| Batteries Included | 2 × IBP-7 rechargeable batteries |
| Battery System | Removable and interchangeable |
| Stated Runtime | Up to 5.5 hours per battery at 22°C |
The removable design is a major advantage during longer observation sessions. When the battery fitted to the H50 is depleted, it can be removed and replaced with the second supplied IBP-7 instead of having to stop using the monocular while a fixed internal battery recharges.
NocPix's stated maximum operating time is measured at 22°C. Actual battery life will vary according to ambient temperature and the functions being used, including Wi-Fi and recording.
Recording & 64GB Internal Storage
The VISTA H50 incorporates 64GB of internal memory, providing substantial built-in storage for thermal photographs and video recordings without requiring a separate memory card.
Microphone support also allows audio to accompany compatible video recordings, making it possible to document observations and add spoken information while recording.
H50 vs H50R
The VISTA H50 and H50R share the same fundamental thermal imaging platform. Both use a 640×512 12μm thermal sensor, ≤15mK NETD, 50mm F0.9 objective lens, 4–40× magnification, 8.8° × 7° field of view and a stated detection range of up to 2,600 metres.
The key difference is the integrated laser rangefinder.
| VISTA H50 | 50mm thermal monocular without integrated LRF |
| VISTA H50R | 50mm thermal monocular with integrated Class 1 laser rangefinder rated to 1,200m |
Choose the H50 if you want the long-range thermal performance of the 50mm VISTA platform but do not need to measure distance through the monocular.
Choose the H50R if you want the same core thermal performance with integrated laser ranging.
H50 vs H35
The VISTA H50 and H35 use the same 640×512 12μm sensor resolution, ≤15mK thermal sensitivity and 60Hz refresh rate. The major difference is their objective lens, which changes magnification, field of view and effective detection range.
| VISTA H35 | 35mm F0.9 | 3–28× | 12.5° × 10° FOV | 1,800m detection |
| VISTA H50 | 50mm F0.9 | 4–40× | 8.8° × 7° FOV | 2,600m detection |
Choose the H35 if you prioritise a wider field of view for quickly scanning woodland, hedgerows and closer-to-medium-distance environments.
Choose the H50 if you regularly observe across larger fields or open terrain and value greater base magnification and additional long-range detection capability.
