      The main clip-on family is MATE, with models including MATE LITE, H38R, H50R and ULTRA S60R.

      Choose MATE LITE if you want the most accessible route into the MATE range.

      Choose MATE H38R if you want a 640×512 sensor with a versatile 38mm lens and integrated LRF.

      Choose MATE H50R if longer-distance performance matters more and you want a larger 50mm lens.

      NOCPIX DIGITAL DAY & NIGHT SCOPES

      NocPix digital day and night scopes are different from the thermal ranges because they capture visible and near-infrared light rather than detecting heat.

      The main range is NITE, currently led by the D70R. It provides a conventional-looking digital image, including full-colour daytime viewing, with low-light and infrared-assisted capability after dark.

      Choose NITE if you want a single digital optic for both daytime and night-time use and prefer visible scene detail over a thermal image.

      Choose a thermal product instead if quickly detecting heat signatures is your main priority.

      THERMAL BINOCULARS vs MONOCULARS – WHICH SHOULD I CHOOSE?

      Thermal binoculars and monoculars perform a similar scanning role, but the viewing experience is different.

      Choose binoculars if you regularly scan for long periods and value the comfort of using both eyes.

      Choose a monocular if compact size, low weight and portability are more important.

      THERMAL RIFLE SCOPE vs THERMAL CLIP-ON – WHICH SHOULD I CHOOSE?

      A dedicated thermal rifle scope and a thermal clip-on both provide rifle-mounted thermal imaging, but they suit different setups.

      Choose a dedicated thermal scope such as BOLT, ACE or RICO2 if you want a complete thermal sighting system designed specifically around thermal use.

      Choose a MATE clip-on if you already have a daytime riflescope you like and want to retain its reticle, eye relief and general setup while adding thermal capability.

      A clip-on is particularly useful if you regularly switch between conventional daytime use and thermal observation without wanting to maintain separate optical setups.

      THERMAL vs DIGITAL NIGHT VISION – WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

      Thermal and digital night vision work in fundamentally different ways.

      Thermal imaging detects infrared heat energy. Warm subjects can therefore stand out against cooler surroundings even in complete darkness.

      Digital night vision captures visible and near-infrared light to create a conventional-looking image. It can provide full-colour daytime viewing and use infrared illumination after dark.

      Choose thermal if heat detection and rapid spotting are the priorities. Choose digital day/night if you prefer natural visual detail and want one optic for both daytime and night-time use.

      384 vs 640 vs 1280 THERMAL SENSORS – WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

      Thermal sensor resolution describes how many temperature-sensitive pixels are used to create the image.

      384-class sensors offer a strong balance between price, detail and overall performance.

      640×512 sensors capture significantly more thermal information and can retain more useful detail as distance or magnification increases.

      1280×1024 sensors sit at the flagship end of the current NocPix range and provide substantially more thermal image information again.

      Sensor resolution is only one part of the equation. Lens size, thermal sensitivity, field of view, magnification and typical viewing distance are also important.

      WHAT DOES NETD MEAN?

      NETD describes how small a temperature difference a thermal imaging system can distinguish and is normally measured in millikelvin.

      A lower NETD figure generally means the device can detect finer temperature differences, helping preserve useful scene detail in difficult conditions where thermal contrast is low.

      NETD should still be considered alongside sensor resolution, objective lens specification and image-processing technology.

      DETECTION RANGE vs IDENTIFICATION RANGE

      Manufacturer-stated detection range describes the distance at which a heat source of a defined size may potentially be detected.

      This is not the same as positive identification distance. Recognising and identifying a subject requires much more image detail.

      Actual usable performance also depends on target size, weather, thermal contrast, vegetation, atmospheric conditions, sensor resolution and magnification.

      For that reason, detection range should be treated as one comparison figure rather than the only measure of thermal performance.

      DO I NEED AN INTEGRATED LASER RANGEFINDER?

      An integrated laser rangefinder allows distance to a subject to be measured directly through the optic without carrying a separate handheld rangefinder.

      This is particularly useful where distances vary significantly or when using the optic across larger areas of unfamiliar ground.

      Many current NocPix products use an R designation for versions with integrated rangefinding, although the specification should always be checked on the individual product page.

      If you generally use the device at predictable short distances, LRF capability may be less important. If your viewing distances vary considerably, it can be one of the most useful integrated features.

      NOCPIX WARRANTY

      NocPix products are supplied with manufacturer warranty cover for added peace of mind.

      For applicable NocPix thermal products, the standard warranty provides:

      • 3 years warranty on the main device
      • 2 years warranty on the battery
      • 10 years warranty on the thermal detector

      The main device warranty on applicable products can be extended to 4 years by completing the relevant NocPix extended-warranty registration.

      Digital products such as the NITE D70R are covered by the applicable device and battery warranty terms rather than thermal-detector cover.
